Classic Msconfig is a free task manager for Windows 8 and 10 that restores the functionality of the Windows 7 task manager. You can adjust operating system settings and close apps that you no longer need open or that are frozen, just as you can with the Ultimate Settings Panel. 

You should also switch off initialization products to avoid slowing down Windows as it starts up. Classic Msconfig would not overwrite any existing device files. Instead, it makes a new one so you can clearly distinguish it. You can also uninstall it in Windows' Apps and Features preferences, much like any other application.
